Announcing SASBO’s New Brand and Visual Identity

Recently, the Executive Committee of the Saskatchewan Association of School Business Officials completed a Strategic Planning refresh that resulted in a new brand and visual identity for the organization.

“Since 2010 there has been considerable change within the provincial education sector and the SASBO organization has also grown and evolved. The executive saw a need to build a new vision and mission statement, along with renewed principles to guide our organization,” said SASBO President, Naomi Mellor, “An updated, contemporary visual identity was a logical step in the renewal of our organization and we are very excited to launch our new look.”

The new SASBO identity is a significant change from the traditional logo, representing the renewal and refresh that SASBO has undertaken over the past several years. The overall design is modern and professional; the classic styling is expected to endure over time. The main font and colour of SASBO is a classic grey, with the eight dots below signifying each of the functional groups. The colour theme honours the continuity of the traditional SASBO brand and Saskatchewan colours. To ensure clarity, the name is spelled out on the right-hand side in a small but clean, readable font. The colour variation of the dots is meant to signify the diversity within SASBO and the progression in the size of the dots is symbolic of growth. A simple, straightforward new tag line was also created: “The Business of Education”. The SASBO executive believes the new visual identity sends a message of renewal, professionalism and future growth.

SASBO began the renewal process in February 2016 with the executive and deputy directors working together under the facilitation and expertise of Dr. Paul Newton from the Saskatchewan Educational Leadership Unit, University of Saskatchewan. The work began with an exploration of the vision and mission statements of SASBO and other educational partners. The members worked in small groups collaborating to rewrite and refresh the Vision, Mission, Scope of Practice and Principles of SASBO. It is the hope of the executive that all SASBO members see themselves in these foundational pieces.
